When compared with other game systems, the Wii has some things
that are similar and some things that are different. These are some
things that might help you to better understand how the Wii compares
with other game systems. The Wii is similar to Microsoft's Xbox 360
or Sony's Playstation 3, but it has some differences. The Wii has a
unique remote shaped controller, while the other 2 systems go with
the classic paddle controller. The other 2 systems only use one type
of controller, but the Wii has several different types of
controllers. You can hold the remote like you would a TV remote, or
you can hold it sideways to play games, like when you need a
steering wheel in a racing game. You can also plug in a nun chuck
extension controller to play games. You also have the option of
purchasing a classic paddle controller, or you can use the Nintendo
Game Cube controller. The Wii is more for casual gamers and parties,
while the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are more for serious gamers.
The Wii does not have HD graphics, like the other 2 systems do.
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and Playstation Network allow you to use
the internet for free, while Xbox Live costs money. One of the main
features of the Wii is the motion sensing. You can swing the Wii
remote like a baseball bat, or play a game of tennis, or use it to
aim at enemies, or do several other things. Sony's Playstation 3 has
motion sensing, but it's not one of the highlights of the console.
The Wii costs quite a bit less than the other 2 systems. You can buy
rechargeable batteries for the Wii and Xbox 360, but the Playstation
3 comes with rechargeable batteries. Nintendo is solely a gaming
company, while Sony and Microsoft make other electronic devices, as
well as game systems.
