Welcome to Network Channel!
Network
Channel
The Nintendo Wii uses a wireless internet connection to do
several things. If you don't have wireless internet in your home,
you can purchase a Nintendo USB connecter to hard wire the Wii to
your internet connection. You can browse the internet with the Opera
web browser in the Internet Channel. At first, you had to pay to get
the Internet Channel, until Nintendo made it free. You can purchase
Wii points on the Wii Shop Channel and use your Wii points to buy
extra things for games and more channels . A Wii Points Card can
also be purchased at any retail store that sells Nintendo products.
There are some things that you can do on the Wii shop channel for
free. One of these is the Check Mii Out Channel, where you can enter
your Miis into contests and put them on display. There is also the
Everybody Votes Channel, where you can answer polls and see the
results. It is fun guessing which results will be more popular. You
can attach a USB keyboard to your Wii to make typing easier, or you
can use the on screen keyboard to type. You can also use the Virtual
Console in the Wii Shop Channel to play classic games from past
consoles like the NES, Saga, Genesis, Super Nintendo, or Nintendo
64. You can receive news from Nintendo about their latest games. You
can also download demos of games for the Nintendo DS and the Wii.
You can use the internet to upgrade the Wii's software regularly.
Many games are played over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection using a friend
code. You can set a password in the parental controls so that
parents can control when their children use the Wii to browse the
internet. You can include local and general news about the Wii and
see weather forecasts around the world. But also play online games.
You have the opportunity to play online games such as
Battlestar
Galactica, WoW or any games via LAN.
